LUBBOCK, Texas - Three key defensive errors led to four unearned Nebraska runs as the No. 6 Cornhuskers dropped Texas Tech 6-3 on Saturday afternoon in front of 4,187 fans at Dan Law Field. The Nebraska win evens the series at 1-1 with the decisive game coming at noon on Sunday.

Texas Tech (25-19; 7-12) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Scooter Jordan scored from third on a wild pitch by Nebraska starter Quinton Robertson.

Nebraska (32-11; 14-6) wasted no time tying the game as the Huskers picked up a run in the top of the second when John Grose scored on a fielder's choice. Tech third baseman Christian Colonel attempted to throw him out at home but the throw was too high for catcher Cooper Fouts.

Nebraska went ahead 4-1 in the top of the third as the Huskers loaded the bases with no outs to jump-start the inning. Alex Gordon hit a routine ground ball that could have been a double play but it went in and out of the glove of second baseman Josh Haney leading to two runs. Matt Hopper scored the final run of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Curtis Ledbetter.

The Huskers added two more unearned runs in the top of the sixth as a fielding error by shortstop T.J Bruce led to the Nebraska scoring.

Sophomore right fielder Madison Edwards pulled Tech to within three when he connected on a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth to make the score 6-3.

Dusty Buck (3-2) suffered the loss despite allowing just two earned runs in what was his first career complete game. Quinton Robertson (6-1) earned the win for Nebraska as he pitched seven innings with four strikeouts and allowed no earned runs.
