LAWRENCE, Kan. - Junior first baseman Josh Brady went 2-for-6 with two home runs and three RBI to lead No. 25 Texas Tech to an 11-4 win over the Kansas Jayhawks in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon. The win clinches the series for the Red Raiders as they now stand at 2-0 in this three-game set.

The win improves Texas Tech to 30-13 overall and 10-6 in the Big 12 while Kansas fell to 25-24-1 and 2-14 in league play.

Texas Tech jumped out to a 4-0 lead thanks to three home runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Junior first baseman Josh Brady put Tech on the board at 1-0 with a solo homer to left-center in the top of the fourth. Junior shortstop Cameron Blair pushed the lead to 3-0 in the fifth when he delivered a two-run homer to center field. Blair's home run scored catcher Cooper Fouts who kept the inning alive with a two-out single.

Kansas came storming back in the bottom of the sixth as the Jayhawks got back-to-back home runs off of Tech starter Dallas Braden to pull within one at 4-3. Catcher Sean Richardson delivered the first home run when he sent a two-run bullet to right-center. Second baseman Jared Schweitzer followed with a solo blast that landed just to the right of the centerfield monster.

The Red Raiders broke the game open in the final three frames as Tech scored seven runs to take an 11-4 lead. Josh Brady picked up his second home run of the game in the seventh when he laced a two-run dinger over the fence in left. Jose Delgado and Cooper Fouts each delivered two-RBI hits in the eighth and ninth respectively.

 

 

Junior Dallas Braden picked up his third straight win and improved to 4-3 on the season as he allowed three earned runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings. Junior right-hander John Milton earned his second save of the year as he pitched the final 3 2/3 allowing just one earned run on two hits.
