LAWRENCE, Kan. - No. 25 Texas Tech scored nine runs in the top of the first and the hot bats of Josh Brady and Cameron Blair were enough to lead the Red Raiders to an 18-7 win over Kansas in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Hoglund Ballpark.

The win gives Texas Tech its first Big 12 series road sweep since dropping Oklahoma in three games in 1999. Texas Tech is now 31-13 overall and 11-6 in the Big 12 while Kansas falls to 25-25-1 and 2-15 in the league.

Texas Tech stormed out to a 9-0 lead in the top of the first inning as Kansas starter Sean Land was only able to record one out and allowed seven earned runs on two hits and five walks. Tech picked up a total of five hits in the inning and took advantage of five walks and a hit-by-pitch.

Kansas picked up a four spot in the bottom of the second when Matt Baty hit a bases loaded triple to center field. Texas Tech junior center fielder Cody Fuller attempted to make the play but both he and the ball bounced off the wall resulting in the three-RBI hit for Baty.

Junior second baseman Cameron Blair picked up a two-run home run in the top of the third to extend his current hitting streak to 17 games.

Kansas chased away Tech starter Michael McGowan in the bottom of the third after giving up a two-run homer to catcher Sean Richardson. Tech then relied on the arm of senior reliever Corey Gerstner who pitched the final 4 2/3 innings allowing just one run.

Texas Tech blew the game open by scoring two runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth. Josh Brady picked up his third home run of the day (he had two in the first game of the doubleheader) in the top of the sixth and he now has 16 on the season.

Corey Gerstner earned the win for Texas Tech as he allowed just five hits and one earned run to improve to 5-0 on the year. Sean Land took the loss for Kansas and fell to 3-2.

Brady led all Tech hitters as he was 3-for-3 with five RBI while Blair was 2-for-5 with four RBI. Matt Baty paced Kansas with a 2-for-4 day with three RBI.

Texas Tech will return to Big 12 action over the weekend as the Red Raiders will host the Missouri Tigers in a three-game series at Dan Law Field. The Tigers will come to Lubbock fresh off a 2-1 series win over top-ranked Texas. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, May 7.
