LUBBOCK, Texas - Shane Wright pitched his sixth complete game in a row and tied the Texas Tech season school record for victories (12th of the season) as Texas Tech defeated Kansas State 13-6 Friday at Dan Law Field. The victory improves No. 22 Texas Tech to 37-17 and 16-11 in the Big 12 Conference while Kansas State falls to 20-30 overall.
Wright (12-1) pitched his sixth complete game in a row. He went 9.0 innings and gave up eight hits and only two earned runs in his tenure. He walked only one batter and struck out 10. He tied Mark Brandenburg and Matt Miller for the Texas Tech season record for wins with 12.
The two teams combined for 11 errors, while Kansas State totaled six and tied the Big 12 record for errors in a game.
Kevin Jordan led Texas Tech with a 3-4, three RBI, home run, two double and two run scored performance. Josh Bard went 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored, Jason Huth finished 3-4 with an RBI and a run, Keith Ginter broke the Texas Tech season record for doubles (he now has 67, broke Stubby Clapp's-1996 record of 66), scored three runs and went 1-3 with an RBI and Brennan Burns went 1-3 with three RBI.
