  • Texas Tech picked up just its second Big 12 series win of the season (last was against No. 2 Missouri in late March) today with a 12-5 win over Baylor.
  • The Red Raiders now lead the all-time series against the Bears 72-64 and hold a 46-19 advantage in Lubbock.
  • Texas Tech's final standing in the Big 12 Conference could be a tie for eighth place with Kansas should Kansas State hold on and defeat the Jayhawks and Oklahoma State defeat Oklahoma.
  • Junior second baseman Willie Rueda has stated his case for first-team All-Big 12 honors at second base as he ended the year hitting safely in 22 of Tech's final 25 games and posted 14 multiple-hit games during that stretch. He finished the 2008 season as the team leader with a .361 average (.365 in Big 12 play) along with 27 stolen bases.
  • Roger Kieshcnick now has four career grand slams to his credit and two this year. His 17 home runs are the most by a Tech player since Cameron Blair hit 17 back in 2005. He will most likely be taken high in the MLB Draft in early June and thus ending his career at Tech with a .322 average over 168 games along with 54 doubles and 39 home runs. His 54 career doubles ranks second all-time at Tech while his 39 home runs rank fourth.
  • Texas Tech ended its season with a .971 fielding percentage, it's highest since 2002 when that squad also fielded at a .971 clip.
  • Four seniors played the final game of their Tech careers this afternoon and were honored in a pre-game ceremony: Jon Capuccio, Owen Brolsman, Doug Thennis and Jason Seefeld.
