LUBBOCK, Texas - Sophomore Bo Altobelli hit a grand slam and freshman Duke von Schamann pitched a career-high seven innings leading Texas Tech to a 5-3 victory over No. 22 Oklahoma State Sunday afternoon at Dan Law Field to give Tech the series win over the Cowboys.

Texas Tech (33-23, 12-15 BIG 12) completes its regular season and will now wait on its seeding in the upcoming Phillips 66 Big 12 Championships. The win guarantees the Red Raiders of a No. 6 or No. 7 seed as they moved in front of Missouri (11-15) with the series clinching win.

Depending on the results of the final two games of the Kansas State/Kansas Series, Tech will be playing either No. 3 seed Oklahoma in the first round or No. 2 tournament seed Texas A&M on Wednesday.

Oklahoma State closed its regular season with a 34-21 overall record and a 14-12 record in the Big 12. The Cowboys will enter the Big 12 Championships as the No. 4 seed.

von Schamann held a shutout through seven innings and was given early run support from Altobelli's first career homer, a grand slam over the left-field wall in the second inning with two outs.

Texas Tech grabbed a 5-0 lead in the sixth inning on Stephen Hagen's sacrifice fly to right field, which scored Barrett Barnes who led off the inning with a hit-by-pitch.

von Schamann (5-0) allowed only one run on five hits with three strikeouts in his career-high seven innings pitched. In his last five starts, von Schamann is 3-0 with a 1.42 ERA in 25.1 innings pitched.

Altobelli led the Red Raiders at the plate going 2-for-3, collecting his 13th multi-hit game of the season. Kelby Tomlinson (1-for-4), Stephen Hagen (1-for-2) and Kevin Whitehead (1-for-3) were the only other Red Raiders with a base hit.

Sophomore Jerad McCrummen earned his first career save tallying three outs in the ninth while allowing just one base hit as Oklahoma State had the game-tying run at the plate.

Texas Tech will play its first game at the Big 12 Championships on Wednesday, May 25, at RedHawks Field at Bricktown in Oklahoma City. The Big 12 Conference will announce Texas Tech's first-round opponent later this evening, along with all of the Big 12 Championship first-round bracket matchups.
