Raider Yard will be held every home Saturday during the 2014 season
Jan. 31, 2014
LUBBOCK, Texas - For the first time Texas Tech Athletics and the Red Raider baseball program are launching "Raider Yard" for all home Saturday games during the 2014 season, which will include family-oriented events, games, raffles, tailgating and picnics just outside the ballpark located directly next to Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
"We are very excited about Raider Yard and all that it presents to our loyal fans and to all the families that make Red Raider baseball a part of their weekend activities," head baseball coach Tim Tadlock said. "There is no better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than with family and friends at the ballpark. Fans can't ask for more activities outdoors with their families - this is an outstanding concept, and for everything to be free is just a fantastic idea all the way around."
The location for Raider Yard is in the grass area located directly west of the ballpark where there will be space for picnics and tailgating. Raider Yard will open two hours prior to first pitch.
Fans will enjoy inflatables for children, an obstacle course, baseball throwing challenge with a radar gun, basketball free throw contest, a photo zone where fans can dress like a Red Raider while wearing official team gear, take photos with the athletics department's proudest trophies while making lasting memories.
Fun and games are a constant at Raider Yard where children can play a game of whiffle ball or run the bases in the grass area, have a competitive race down the first-base line, play cornhole, plinko and select music that will be played while winning raffle prizes for each game.
The Red Raiders will play 35 home games this season - their most since 2004 - while season tickets can be purchased by calling 742-TECh or visiting www.texastech.com. One of the most affordable deals ever offered for a Tech season is the "Family Four Pack" which is four season tickets for $160 - just over $1 per ticket for four tickets for all 35 home games.
Texas Tech will host No. 3 Indiana on Opening Day, Friday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park. The Hoosiers will be in town for a four-game series playing two games on Saturday, Feb. 15 (Noon and 4 p.m.) and Sunday, Feb. 16 at Noon.
More information on Raider Yard will be provided in the upcoming weeks.
