NO. 23 TEXAS TECH OPENS BIG 12 SCHEDULE AT BAYLOR
No. 23 Texas Tech (15-3) opens Big 12 play this weekend with a three-game series in Waco at Baylor Ballpark against the Baylor Bears (8-8) with all three games televised, including Saturday's contest which is set for a national broadcast on FOX Sports 1 at noon CT. The series opener is slated for Friday, Mar. 14 at 6:35 p.m. (FOX College Sports) while Red Raider junior right-handed pitcher Dominic Moreno (1-2) is making his second career start in the Big 12 opener. Last season the Red Raiders defeated Texas on the road - and took 2-of-3 in the series - in their Big 12 opening series. Tech is 7-9-1 all-time in Big 12 opening series while having won three of its last five since 2009. Tech is getting used to opening Big 12 play on the road while this year marks the fifth straight season opening conference play on the road and have now opened Big 12 play on the road for the sixth time over the last seven seasons. The Red Raiders are 1-0 in true road games this season (at Stephen F. Austin - W, 5-4) and have a 2-2 record away from home on the year. Baylor has experienced most of its success this season at home with a 7-1 record, including a series win last weekend over No. 4 Cal State Fullerton, winning games two and three of the series.
