LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech is saddened to learn of the tragic death of former baseball student-athlete Mark Austry following the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon held in Dallas today.

Austry, a native of Fort Worth, lettered at Texas Tech between 1998 and 2000 after transferring from Coastal Carolina. He leaves behind his wife, Mariana Alvarez Austry, and daughters Isabella and Anna. Austry was 32.

"On behalf of Texas Tech University and all of Red Raider nation, we extend our deepest sympathies to the Austry family. Mark was a great person and will be sorely missed," said Texas Tech Director of Athletics, Gerald Myers.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
