Baseball Plays Kansas State in Regular Season Finale|

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will host Kansas State in a three game baseball series Friday through Sunday at Dan Law Field. The series marks the final three games of the regular season for the Red Raiders. Game times for this weekend are Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
No. 22 Texas Tech (15-11 Big 12; 36-17) has clinched a spot to compete in the 1998 Big 12 Conference baseball tournament, scheduled for May 14-17 at Oklahoma City, Okla.'s Bricktown Ballpark. Seeds three through six are all in jeopardy for the tournament as four teams remain in the running- Texas Tech, Missouri, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are in the running for those seeds. This weekend's games will determine who starts the tournament with the specific seeding. Texas A&M has already clinched the regular season championship while Baylor will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed. Kansas State enters the weekend with a 20-29 overall record. The Wildcats are 9-16 in the Big 12 Conference.
On Saturday, May 10, Mothers' Day, the Texas Tech marketing and promotions department will sponsor two special promotions. Mothers attending the game can register to win dinner for two at Outback Steakhouse as five gift certificates will be given out during the game. Also, the first 100 fans through the front gate will receive a free autographed Texas Tech baseball poster.

Buckley and Ward were also nominated for the GTE Academic All District team. That team, voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America, has yet to be seelected.
