LUBBOCK, Texas - Oklahoma State overcame a 9-8 deficit with a four-run eighth inning and held on for a 12-11 victory against Texas Tech Sunday at Dan Law Field. The game wraps up the regular season for both teams as Texas Tech concludes with a 40-13 overall and 18-8 Big 12 record while Oklahoma State is 40-15 overall and 18-9 in the conference.

Win or lose, Texas Tech would have been the No. 3 seed upon entering the Big 12 Conference baseball tournament in Oklahoma City from May 19-23. The No. 6 seed is Texas. Tech will play Texas (17-13 Big 12, 34-22) in the first round on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Ballpark in Bricktown.

Oklahoma State rallied from a 9-8 deficit to score four runs in the eighth inning. Back-to-back home runs from Billy Gasparino and Josh Holliday put the Cowboys up 12-9. But Texas Tech was not finished as the Red Raiders answered in the bottom of the eighth with a Josh Bard two-run homer, his second of the day. That was as close as the Red Raiders got as a groundout and double play finished off Tech.

Oklahoma State jumped out to a 8-5 lead after consecutive three-run innings in the fifth and sixth. Texas Tech came back to lead 9-8 with four runs of its own in the sixth when Josh Bard's grand slam put Tech back in the lead.

Bard led Texas Tech with a 3-4, two home run, three run and six RBI day. Marco Cunningham went 2-3 with two runs and Chaz Eiguren finished 1-3 with two RBI and a home run for Texas Tech, which only mustered nine hits.

Oklahoma State banged out 16 hits en route to its 12 runs. Billy Gasparino led the charge with a 2-5, four RBI and home run day, Chris Becerra added 3-5 and two-RBI hitting and Lamont Matthews, Jay McCullough and Jimbo McAuliff each had two hits apiece.

Rusty Rushing (1-1) earned the victory for Oklahoma State after going 3 1/3 innings and allowing three hits and two runs while Chris Sampson earned the loss after allowing the go-ahead runs in the eighth.
