Tech to Face Texas in First RoundRed Raider baseball enters Big 12 Tournament as No. 3 seed on Wednesday
May 17, 1999 LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will play Texas in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Oklahoma City's Ballpark at Bricktown. Texas Tech, the No. 3 seed in the tournament enters the game with a 18-8 Big 12 record and 40-13 overall record, while No. 6 seed Texas enters Big 12 tourney play with a 17-13 conference and 34-22 overall record. The winner will play on Thursday at 8 p.m. against the winner of the Baylor (No. 2 seed)-Missouri (No. 7 seed) game. The losers of both games will play Thursday at 1 p.m. Other day one Wednesday games include No. 1 seed Texas A&M vs. No. 8 seed Oklahoma at 10 a.m., No. 4 seed Oklahoma State vs. No. 5 seed Nebraska at 1 p.m. and No. 2 seed Baylor vs. No. 7 seed Missouri at 5 p.m. The tournament is a double elimination format while the winner receives an automatic bid into the NCAA college baseball tournament. Tickets for the Big 12 Conference baseball tournament are available by calling the Texas Tech ticket office at (806) 742-4412 or the Oklahoma City All Sports Association at (405) 236-5000. Monday, the NCAA will announce the 16 NCAA Baseball regional sites via teleconference at 2 p.m. CT. Texas Tech has a chance to host an NCAA Regional from May 28-30.
