LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Red Raiders, making their fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA baseball championship, will face North Carolina in the Atlantic I Regional at 11 a.m. CT on Thursday at the University of Miami at Coral Gables, Fla.
Fourth-seeded Texas Tech is one of five Big 12 teams in the tourney along with Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. North Carolina is the No. 3 seed in the regional.
Texas Tech (43-18) earned an automatic bid by winning the Big 12 Tournament with a 14-7 victory over Texas A&M Sunday night in Oklahoma City. North Carolina (39-21) is one of six Atlantic Coast Conference teams to make the NCAA tournament.
In other games in the Atlantic I Regional, host and top-seeded Miami (46-9) will face sixth-seeded Bowling Green (34-19) at 6:30 p.m. CT. Second-seeded South Carolina (42-16) will battle fifth-seed Florida International (40-22) at 2:45 p.m. CT.
North Carolina is making its first regional appearance since 1995. The Tar Heels have dropped four of their last six games entering Thursday's contest with Tech.
