Texas Head Coach Augie Garrido
"It is always tough when you lose, especially when you play to win. It is a lot easier to absorb a loss when you don't put the effort that our players put into the game. The players play the game to win, so it is very difficult for them to make the adjustment when they lose like that. It was a tough game and a tough loss."

Texas Tech First Baseman Mark Austry
"I faced him (Thames) earlier in the year and he was throwing pretty hard. I only saw two pitches against him. One was a fastball away, and the other he hit me on the thigh with a slider. I knew he was going to go away with me because he didn't want to hit me. He was throwing hard. The first pitch I fouled off, then he came back with a slider that I couldn't pick it up very well. Then he came back with the same pitch as the first one and I just went with it."

Texas Tech Head Coach Larry Hays
"It was a great game. I just wish I could have enjoyed it. We were lucky to win this. With bases loaded and you strike out twice, that's not getting it done. We got a big break."
