LUBBOCK, Texas - The NCAA announced today the pairings for the 1999 NCAA Baseball Regional this weekend, May 28-30, at Dan Law Field on the Texas Tech campus.

Texas Tech is the No. 2 seed for the regional and will face No. 3-seed Rutgers at 7 p.m. (CT) on Friday. The NCAA committee reached in-state for the region's No. 1 seeded Rice Owls. Rice faces No. 4-seed UW-Milwaukee at 3 p.m. on Friday. Rice enters the tournament with a 52-11 record and fresh off of winning the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. The Red Raiders are 40-15, securing their seventh-straight 40-win season. The Scarlet Knights of Rutgers are 37-19 and earned an at-large berth out of the Big East Conference, while Midwestern Collegiate Conference Champion UW-Milwaukee is 30-27.

The two losers from Friday's games will face off at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the Friday winners meeting at 3 p.m. The two winners of Saturday's early games will meet at 7 p.m. later that evening. The championship game is slated for 2 p.m. on Sunday with a 6 p.m. game scheduled if necessary.
