LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior third baseman Reid Redman (Midland, Texas) was drafted in the 37th round (1,124th overall) of the 2011 Major League Baseball First-Year Players Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Redman is the fourth Red Raider to be selected in this year's draft.

Texas Tech's four draft picks marks the seventh time in the last eight years the Red Raiders have had at least four players drafted.

Redman is the third Red Raider infielder to be selected in the draft, which are the most since three were also drafted in 2006. Redman is the first Tech third baseman to be drafted since 2004 (Josh Haney - 11th round, Kansas City Royals).

It marks just the second Red Raider ever that has been drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the first since 1993 (Mike Kinney - 20th round).

Redman shined both at the plate and defensively at third base during his first season with the Red Raiders. He led the team batting .320 (64-for-200) with 37 runs, 12 doubles, two triples, 34 RBI, 21 walks and was 6-of-7 in stolen bases. Redman also led Tech with 13 sacrifice bunts. In addition, Redman was one of three Tech players to play in and start in all 58 games (all at third base).

An All-Big 12 honorable mention pick, Redman made only one error in 27 conference games with a .989 fielding percentage (23 putouts, 64 assists).

An Academic All-Big 12 first team selection, Redman ranked among team leaders with 16 multi-hit games and with six multiple RBI games. He led the team with eight bunt base hits and also recorded 12 two-out RBI, six go-ahead RBI and posted six game-winning RBI.

Texas Tech had another incoming student-athlete drafted when New Mexico JC outfielder Devon Conley was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 47th round (1,415 overall pick).
