LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball program had 16 student-athletes recognized with academic honor roll recognition during the spring 2014 semester.

Among the 16 Red Raiders that posted at least a 3.0 grade point average for the spring, six received Dean's List honors (3.50-3.99 GPA) while sophomore catcher Tyler Floyd notched a perfect 4.0 GPA to earn President's List honors for the second straight semester.

"It's always a challenge in the classroom during the spring semester and these individuals did an outstanding job," second-year head coach Tim Tadlock said. "Not only did these student-athletes work hard, so did the entire staff at our Marsha Sharp Center. We understand the commitment involved to achieving success in the classroom as well as on the field and we appreciate the effort of these individuals that went the extra mile academically during the spring."

Five of Tech's six Dean's List honorees are underclassmen while freshmen Matt Broadbent, Dylan Dusek and Ryan Long were recognized along with sophomores Tyler Floyd (President's List) and Matt Withrow. Redshirt junior Heath Herrington also received Dean's List honors.

Junior shortstop Tim Proudfoot collected his fourth career academic honor roll honor while sophomore right-handed pitcher Matt Custred has now received honor roll status in four consecutive semesters - spanning his entire career at Tech.

Sophomore outfielder Zach Davis and sophomore right-handed pitcher Johnathon Tripp joined Herrington as three-time academic honor roll recipients while sophomore right-handed pitchers Justin Bethard and Matt Withrow joined Dusek (two-time Dean's List), Long and Floyd as two-time recipients.

Six Red Raiders received academic honor roll for the first time as Broadbent, Ty Damron, Anthony Lyons, Hunter Redman, Cameron Smith and Corey Taylor make up the list of Tech baseball student-athletes with a GPA of at least 3.0 during the past semester.
