LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team was back in action with its first team practice of the fall season on Friday afternoon at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

Second-year head coach Tim Tadlock and the Red Raiders enjoyed a day with beautiful weather in the mid-to-upper 80's for the team's first team practice and scrimmage.

"We are really excited to start team practices," Tadlock said to the media before practice. "We have had a couple weeks to get off to a good start in the classroom and focus on academics and also get our feet on the ground in the weight room. Now we are ready to get the baseball side of things underway."

The Red Raiders have a 39-player roster for the fall season, a total that includes 20 returning players. Tech welcomes back every starting position player along with six pitchers that tallied at least 25-innings pitched and eight pitchers that were used as starters in 2013.

Texas Tech's roster also includes 19 newcomers - a group that was ranked as the No. 24 ranked recruiting class in the country by Perfect Game. Tech's newcomers include eight position players and 11 pitchers (7 RHP, 4 LHP). The Red Raiders have 10 transfers that joined the program along with nine freshmen.

Tech's fall season will conclude with the annual Red & Black Series, scheduled for the final week of October. More information on the Red & Black Series will follow at a later date.
