LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech baseball team took the field for the first time under first-year head coach Tim Tadlock on Monday as the Red Raiders begin fall team practices at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
"We are excited, today marks the first day for us to get our entire team out on the field together as a group," Tadlock said. "I think every day of the fall season is important. We are going to go out there and try to get better each and every day."
The Red Raiders have a 42-player roster for the fall season with 32 newcomers that includes 18 freshmen and 14 junior-college transfers. Texas Tech has 10 players on its roster that have been in the program prior to this season.
Tech used its first day for official team practices to work on numerous aspects of the game including pitcher's fielding practice, rundowns, bunt defenses, base running, outfield work, ground balls, batting practice and outfield work to name a few.
The Red Raiders enjoyed beautiful weather that was in the mid to upper 70-degrees.
Texas Tech's fall season will conclude with the annual Red & Black Series, slated for October 22 (Game 1), October 29 (Game 2) and October 30. Times and details on the Red & Black Series will follow at a later date.
