Four Red Raiders Among Perfect Game Top Prospects (Texas)

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior right-handed pitcher Trey Masek is one of four Red Raider baseball players that ranked among Perfect Game's top Major League Baseball Draft Prospects for the state of Texas.

Masek (Giddings, Texas) was tabbed the No. 3 draft prospect from the state of Texas - and the highest among all Big 12 programs in the state - while being placed in the group considered "Elite-Round Draft - 1st-3rd round projected draft picks).

Junior left-handed pitcher Andre Wheeler was ranked 39th, junior infielder Jake Barrios was selected 56th and junior outfielder Devon Conley was ranked the 64th top draft prospect in the state of Texas.

Masek - who Perfect Game selected the No. 74 overall prospect for the 2013 MLB Draft - pitched this past summer in the Cape Cod League (Falmouth Commodores) while being named an all-star. He is 7-8 in his Tech career with a 4.12 ERA in 34 appearances (17 starts) with two saves, 120 innings pitched, 79 strikeouts and 49 walks allowed.

Wheeler (Austin, Texas) was a 22nd round draft pick out of high school by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010. He was one of Tech's top relievers in 2012 making 22 outings with a 1-0 record and 17.1 innings pitched with 17 strikeouts and eight walks allowed.

Barrios (Weatherford, Okla.) was one of the top junior college players in the nation during his two seasons at Seward County C.C. in 2011-12. He helped lead Seward to the JUCO World Series as a freshman batting .359 (79-for-220) with 13 doubles, four triples, eight home runs and 58 RBI. He was named to the JUCO World Series All-Tournament team. As a sophomore he batted .354 with 45 runs, 14 doubles and 49 RBI.

Conley (Rio Rancho, N.M.) was named the No. 68 junior college player in the nation by Perfect Game in 2011 during his sophomore season at New Mexico JC. He batted .359 (70-for-195) with 67 runs, 13 doubles, five triples, two home runs, 31 RBI and 19-of-24 stolen bases in his final season at NMJC.
