LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head baseball coach Dan Spencer announced the Red Raiders early signing class Friday morning as seven student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent during the early signing period. All seven signees will join the Red Raiders in 2012-13.

The signing class includes seven high school standouts. Five of the signees are from Texas while one is from Oklahoma and one is from Colorado.

"We were able to address a lot of needs with this signing class," Spencer said. "We feel that all of the players we signed have a chance to be impact players at this level and have a tremendous amount of talent. We are extremely excited about adding these players to our program."

Overall the Red Raiders signed five pitchers (4 RHP, 1 LHP), one infielder and an outfielder.

- Plays for coach David Walden at Mansfield Legacy High School.
- Enters senior season at Mansfield Legacy High School in 2012

- Led team to Bi-District Championship (2011)
- Batted .370 (37-for-100) with 33 runs, 17 doubles, six home runs, 29 RBI, .421 on-base percentage and .720 slugging percentage (2011)
- Recorded 12 multi-hit games, including three three-hit performances.

Matt Withrow - RHP - 6-3, 210 - R/R - Odessa, Texas/Midland Christian

- Went 3-1 with 31 strikeouts in 25 innings pitched (2011)
- Batted .333 with 24 runs, eight doubles and six home runs with 28 RBI
- Father, Mike, played baseball at Texas (1980-81) and was drafted in the seventh round of the 1981 MLB Draft by the Chicago White Sox. He played parts of three seasons in the White Sox organization while advancing to Double-A (1981-84)
- Brother, Chris, was drafted No. 20 in the first round of the 2007 MLB Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers and finished the 2011 season in Double-A with Chattanooga
