First Class Travel Baseball is considered one of the four major sports at Texas Tech and the program is generously funded by both the university and the booster club (The Diamond Club). The Red Raiders frequently travel by air (including charter aircraft to northern Big 12 cities) to reduce missed class time. Tech also stays in outstanding hotels and travels to locations such as Southern California, Las Vegas and Florida just to name a few. As part of a rigorous non-conference schedule each year, Tech frequently plays in both major league and minor league venues and in turn those venues help raise the visibility of the program.
Sports Medicine Under the direction of Assistant Athletic Trainer, Shawn Lindsey, baseball student-athletes receive top quality medical care during their time at Texas Tech. A staff of highly qualified physicians, work closely with our sports medicine staff to ensure the proper care of each player. Prevention of injury and illness is a major message and is designed to maintain the well-being of all student-athletes.
