Jamal Williams, Jr. started 26 games for Texas Tech as junior and could be a key asset in the success of the Red Raiders this season. When the Red Raiders play in the Progressive Legends Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y., it will be a coming home for Williams. The tournament is being played at the Barclays Center, which is just seven blocks from Williams' Brooklyn Pacific High School.

JUNIOR (2012-13) -- Named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2012 ... appeared in 29 of 31 games with 26 starts ... returned to the lineup to start conference at TCU after sitting out the previous two games due to injury ... led the Red Raiders in scoring with 11 points against Kansas, while notching a career-high 31 minutes ... also led Texas Tech in scoring (8 points) and rebounds (7 rebounds) at Baylor ... began the season with eight straight starts, scoring in all eight contests ... announced his presence in a big way in the season opener with 15 points and six rebounds, while connecting on 4-of-8 treys ... chipped in 12 points and four boards against Jackson State ... had a season-high four assists against McNeese State ... notched 11 points, four rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes at West Virginia ... has recorded an assist in 22 of 29 games ... shooting 71.8 percent from the line ... averaging 4.7, points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in 20.1 minutes of action.

PRIOR TO TEXAS TECH -- Jamal Williams comes from Lake Land College in Mattoon, Ill., where he led Lake Land (23-8) the Great Rivers Athletic Conference title and to the NJCAA Region 24 semifinals as a sophomore ... averaged 10.6 points, 3.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds as a sophomore ... led the Lakers to the NJCAA Region 24 finals as a freshman, including recording a double-double in the regional finals with 13 points and 10 assists against Wabash College ... averaged 8.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists as a freshman for the Lakers (20-13) ... averaged 20.3 points, 7.6 assists and 4.3 rebounds as a senior at Brooklyn (N.Y.) Pacific High School ... as a junior at Pacific, he averaged 15 points, 7.2 assists and 6.4 rebounds for the Griffins ... rated a three-star recruit by ... ranked as the 31st best prospect for 2012 by ... also recruited by Drake, Loyola, Arkansas, Southern Miss, USC and Wichita State.
