JUNIOR (2001-2002): Gained his first Texas Tech start against UTEP. Responded by shooting 3-4 from the field (including 1-1 from 3 pt. territory), was 1-2 from the FT line, had 4 defensive rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals in 24 minutes...in his second start against New Mexico State, Nick grabbed 12 of the team's 40 rebounds, had 2 assists, and 1 steal...scored a season high 14 points against Kansas State in the conference opener...scored double figures in 4 games during the season...contributed 5 points against OSU shooting 2-7 from the field (1-3 from 3 pt.) and 0-1 from the free throw line...it seemed like an off night for Nick until one checks the stats and notices he had 3 steals, 5 rebounds, and 11 assists...(a new United Spirit Arena record for individual assists)...his 68 season assists ranked third among all players...averaged 18.5 minutes per game and 4.2 ppg.
