Texas A&M is fourth victim in a row for Raiders

Feb. 7, 1998

LUBBOCK, Texas - Cory Carr and Rayford Young scored 25 points apiece as Texas Tech cruised to its fourth straight conference win in a 102-75 victory over Texas A&M.

With 3:52 remaining in the first half the Tech bomb squad took over the game. Stan Bonewitz hit on two three point attempts and Carr and Young added one each as the Red Raiders made four unanswered triples. Tech never looked back after the 12-0 run and led by as many as 31 in the second half.

Brock Barnes threw in three consecutive tree pointers to take Tech over the 100 point mark in the closing minutes of the game.

"I think it's just an example of us playing defense and shooting the basketball," Carr said. "It was a total team effort. We played two halves for a change and really played a great game."

DaiMon Roberts came off the bench to equal his career high 12 points. Roberts played 18 minutes in the game as he replaced starter Cliff Owens when Owens left with a busted lip and concussion.

Bonewitz had a game season high nine assists to go along with 14 points on the game to help the Raiders score 102 points, the team's highest total ever in a Big 12 game.

"Weire getting a stronger bond and weire getting better," Texas Tech coach James Dickey said. "Now they know they're a good basketball team and confidence is something we had been missing for quite a while."
