Texas Tech Tops Sam Houston St., 87-76

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) -Nick Okorie and Mike Singletary each scored 18 points to lead Texas Tech to an 87-76 win over Sam Houston State Monday night. John Roberson scored 14 and D'walyn Roberts added 10 for Texas Tech (2-0). Cory Almond led Sam Houston State (1-1) with 23 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the 3-point line. Lance Pevehouse added 12 points. The Red Raiders led 40-30 at the half and outscored Sam Houston State 31-18 to open the second half, effectively putting any type of comeback out of Sam Houston?s reach. With the win, the Red Raiders avenged a 56-54 loss to Sam Houston State last season in Huntsville.
