LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Rayford Young had his first double-double of the season Wednesday night, scoring 13 points and making 11 assists, as Texas Tech beat New Mexico State 70-43.

Young also had a team-high four steals. Cliff Owens had 16 rebounds for the Red Raiders (3-0).

Gerald Moore led NMSU (2-3) with 15 points and eight rebounds.

Tech took a 13-point lead, 22-9, with 8:01 remaining in the first half and led 33-15 at halftime.

The Aggies went on a 13-6 run to draw the score to 55-30 but were unable to close the gap.
