NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - John Roberson scored 13 points to lead a balanced attack for Texas Tech in a 77-73 victory over Mississippi State on Saturday night in the third-place game of the Legends Classic.

The Red Raiders (6-1) led throughout the second half, although the Bulldogs (5-2) closed within 52-50 with 13:19 left on a 3-pointer by Dee Bost. Freshman Tyree Graham's four-point play with 11:16 to play gave the Red Raiders a 56-50 lead.

The Bulldogs had one chance to tie in the final minutes, but Bost threw up an air ball from 3-point range with 23 seconds left. Roberson made two free throws a second later to seal the win.

Graham and Nick Okrie each added 11 points for Texas Tech.

Kodi Augustus and Bost both had 16 points for the Bulldogs, who were 4-of-20 from 3-point range. Jarvis Varnado had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Mississippi State, which finished with a 48-39 advantage on the boards.
