Today's starting lineup: Josh Gray, Dusty Hannahs, Jamal Williams, Jr., Jaye Crockett and Jordan Tolbert. It was Tolbert's 38th career start, while Gray and Williams were making their nine start, Crockett his eighth and Hannahs his first.
Despite the loss, Texas Tech still holds a 21-20 advantage in the series. Arizona State has won the last five meetings.
Junior Jaye Crockett has now led the Red Raiders in scoring and rebounding for eight consecutive games. The last player to lead the team in scoring for eight consecutive games was Andre Emmett, who did it to open the 2003-04 season, when he led the team in scoring for 13 straight games. Crockett is the first player in the Big 12 era for Texas Tech to lead the team in both categories for eight consecutive games. The last Red Raider to lead the team in scoring and rebounding for eight straight games was Mike Russell from Feb. 8, 1977 to March 4, 1977.
Despite starting for the first time this season, Crockett solidified his spot as the top Sixth Man in the nation among the Big Six conferences. Crockett's 11 points and 9 rebounds give him a season average of 15.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. His 8.9 rebounds per game is the highest rebounding average since Tony Battie averaged 11.8 boards per game during the 1996-97 season. His 15.8 points per game is the highest average for a Red Raider since Jarrius Jackson averaged 19.9 points per game during the 2006-07 season.
Sophomore Jordan Tolbert has now scored in 40 consecutive games, which is every game he has ever played in. He has also started in 38 of those games. Tolbert finished the night with 10 points, which was his fourth double-digit performance of the season and the 20th of his career. He also had five rebounds and two blocks on the day.
Freshman Josh Gray recorded his seventh career double-digit scoring effort in just his ninth career game. He finished the game with 10 points and four rebounds.
Junior Dejan Kravic had his third game of the season with at least four blocks. For the season, he is averaging, 1.7 blocks per game.
Freshman Dusty Hannahs, who recorded his first career start, also notched a career-high nine points in the loss.
After struggling from the free throw line for three straight games, Texas Tech had its second straight game of hitting better than 70 percent from the line. The Red Raiders were 9 of 12 from the line for 75 percent. It comes on the heels of a 15-21 (71.4 percent) performance against Alabama. The previous three games, Tech shot a combined 51 percent from the line.
Texas Tech has been mired in a drought from beyond the arc of late. Texas Tech connected on just three 3-pointers for the third straight game, this time hitting 3 of 13. Over the last three games, Tech is 9 of 49 (18.4 percent).
Texas Tech won the battle of the boards, 36-33, for the first time in four games. Nine Red Raiders had a rebound on Saturday.
Texas Tech scored at least 60 points for the eighth time in nine games this season. Last year, the Red Raiders scored more than 60 points 15 times in 31 games.
