Texas Tech vs. Texas Postgame Quotes, Notes

James Dickey
"I think there is one play in every game that changes the outcome. I thought the play underneath the basket, where Rayford Young threw it back inbounds gave them momentum. In the first half, at one point it was 22-15. Then, Axtell hits three, Clack hit a three - that turned the tide in the first half to give them the lead at halftime. We battled until about the eight minute mark of the second half, but we made too many mental mistakes and shot selection hurt us.

(On DeJuan Vasquez' defensive effort against Carr) "I don't think anybody could play Cory Carr quite as well. He's a strong defender. I thought their team defensive awareness was great. Tom had them prepared. When you are an 0-4 team (in the league) you are playing for everything you can. They are going to have a great ball club. They had to start three freshmen today. But, they will be dangerous to come in here against with Clack healthy."

Cory Carr
"I think (Vasquez) is the best defender in the league. He was up for this game. He bumped me everytime down the floor and my hatt is off to the Longhorns. They made plays when they had to make plays. And, we didn't shoot the ball well. I thought the one bright spot for us was (Cliff) Owens."

Cliff Owens
"I thought my teammates did a great job in setting me up. We ran some plays and my teammates put the ball right in my lap. I got the open looks, because their post players were conscious of our guards. They tried to help out a lot on those guys which left me open."
