Tech-Oklahoma State Game Postponed
Jan. 28, 2001 LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech's Tuesday night match-up with Oklahoma State has been postponed indefinitely due to the plane crash that took the lives of 10 members of the Oklahoma State basketball family. No decision has been made relative to the rescheduling of the contest. Statement From Texas Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers "We send our thoughts and prayers to the entire Oklahoma State family in light of this tragedy. This is a tragic loss that affects the entire Big 12 Conference. We will be in contact with athletic officials at Oklahoma State and will be offering any support that we can." Statement From Head Basketball Coach James Dickey "Certainly, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those affected by this tragedy. This is a very difficult time for Oklahoma State University, especially for the coaches, players and staff. We talked to our players last night about air travel and we discussed that it is still the safest form of travel but we also stressed that our number one concern is the safety of all our student-athletes. We stayed overnight on Saturday in Columbia on Saturday night because of that reason."
"In the game you played yesterday, you often look back and wonder why you won or why you lost but his tragedy makes you look back and put all your priorities together."
