Texas Tech Declares Black Out Against No. 19 OSU

February 4, 2014

LUBBOCK, Texas – With less than 1,000 tickets remaining, Texas Tech is declaring a Black Out for Saturday’s game against No. 19 Oklahoma State at United Spirit Arena.

All fans are encouraged to wear black and arrive early. The Texas Tech-Oklahoma State clash is set for 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the arena doors opening at 7:30 p.m.

Red Raider head coach Tubby Smith is challenging all Texas Tech students to set a new student attendance record. It would take 4,000 students to reach the goal. Students are encouraged to arrive early for the best seating opportunities. The Red Raider student body is asked to enter through the Southeast entrance (the entrance closest to Chitwood/Weymouth) and swipe their Texas Tech student ID for admission.

The first 200 students through the doors will receive a plate of baby back ribs and all students will be able to register to win an Under Armour gift pack which includes a backpack and watch.

There is also a Residence Hall Challenge set for Saturday, as residence hall students will have the opportunity to represent their hall in a chance to be recognized with a pizza party with the Red Raider basketball team.

The evening is packed with promotions, as 5,000 seats will have a special ‘Wreck ‘Em’ sign for fans to use during the game. Team introductions will also feature special pyrotechnics. The Red Raider baseball team will sign autographs on the concourse from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Free posters will be available for all fans.

The United Spirit Arena’s Club Red is located on the east concourse and is open to all fans starting at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Club Red will feature live music and drinks.

For all kids attending the game, there will be a Kids Zone on the west concourse presented by the Southwest Dairy Farmers. Free coloring pages, backpacks and Raider Red growth charts will be available as well as face painting and poster making tables.

“QuickChange,” voted as the No. 1 halftime performance in the NBA,  will perform at halftime of the Texas Tech-Oklahoma State game.  David and Dania, the duo that makes up QuickChange, have been tabbed as the most popular entertainment act in all of sports. The duo has performed on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "Americas Got Talent" and on "Ellen DeGeneres" to name a few.
