Red Raiders vs. Aggies On Saturday

The Texas Tech Red Raiders host the Texas A&M Aggies in the final home game of the 20005-2006 conference season on Saturday at the United Spirit Arena. The game will begin at 12:45 PM on ESPN-Regional.
Bob Carpenter will call the play-by-play. Reid Gettys will provide the game analysis.
John Harris will call the courtside action along with Andy Hipsher as the analyst on the Texas Tech Sports Network (KKAM 1340 AM / KQBR 99.5 FM).
Texas Tech and Texas A&M are meeting for the 113th time since the series began on December 17, 1941. Overall, the Red Raiders lead the series 60-52. Texas Tech leads the series 34-16 in Lubbock. A&M holds a 31-21 margin when the teams have played in College Station. Each team has won five games on neutral courts.
Tech lost the first meeting of the 2005-2006 season in College Station on January 7. The Raiders held a 34-25 halftime lead and then scored 21 points in the second half to A&M's 38 points A&M's for a 63-55 win. Jay Jackson led the Raiders in scoring with 21 points. Martin Zeno added 18 points. A&M's Acie Law also scored 21 points.
The Red Raiders are 14-15 for the 2005-2006 season and 6-9 in Big 12 play after winning over Kansas State (70-56) at the United Spirit Arena on February 15, defeating Nebraska (70-64) on February 18, dropping a game to Oklahoma (71-70) on February 20, and losing at Oklahoma State (74-63) on February 25. The Raiders dropped their last road game to Baylor in Waco, 77-66.
Texas Tech has two players averaging double figures for the season with Jarrius Jackson averaging 20.2 points per game and Martin Zeno scoring 13.9 points per game. After twenty-nine games, the Raiders are averaging 68.4 points per game while their opponents are scoring 68.2 points per game.
Texas A&M is 19-7 for the season. The Aggies have won 9-of-15 games in conference play. They topped the Raiders in their conference opener (63-55) and then lost three in a row... at OSU (79-77), to OU (45-44), and at KSU (58-54). A&M won in overtime at ISU (86-81), lost to Kansas (83-73), edged Baylor (72-70), lost at OU (71-63), and at Texas (83-70) before winning their last six games. The Aggies have defeated CU (61-58), OSU (46-44), at BU (64-60), at Missouri (54-51), Nebraska (66-55), and Texas (46-43).
After the A&M game, the Red Raiders will have completed conference play and begin preparation for the Big 12 Championship. The conference championship will be played at the American Airlines Center in Dallas beginning on March 9.
Coach Bob Knight (Ohio State, 1962) enters his fifth season at the helm of the Raider program and has notched four consecutive 20+ wins in Lubbock. In 39 seasons of coaching, he has taken his teams to post-season play 36 times. Coach Knight is third among all coaches on the all-time career wins list with 868 victories. He is the youngest of the four coaches (Dean Smith-879, Adolph Rupp-876, Bob Knight-868, and Jim Phelan-830) and the only active coach to reach that remarkable plateau of 800 career victories.
