Lubbock, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders face the University of Kansas Jayhawks on Monday at 8:00 PM (Central Time). The "Big Monday" game will be telecast on ESPN. Ron Franklin will call the play-by-play. Fran Fraschilla will provide the game analysis and Holly Rowe will be the sideline reporter.

Mark Finkner will call the courtside action along with Corky Oglesby as analyst on the Texas Tech Sports Network local stations KQBR-FM 99.5 and KKAM-AM 1340. Sirius Radio will broadcast the game on Channel 130.

The Red Raiders and the Jayhawks are meeting for the 20th time since the series began on December 7, 1959. Overall, Kansas leads the series 16-3. The Jayhawks have a 9-0 lead when the teams have played in Lawrence and they have 1-0 edge on neutral courts. Kansas has a 6-3 margin when the teams have played in Lubbock.

Texas Tech has won the last two meetings in Lubbock. Last season, the Red Raiders won by five points, 69-64.

Texas Tech completed non-conference play win nine wins and five losses. The Red Raiders are 7-7 in conference play with two games remaining on the schedule. After Monday's road game in Lawrence, the Red Raiders host Baylor on Saturday at 12:30 PM.

The Red Raiders opened the 2007-2008 conference season with a loss on the road on January 12 to Oklahoma, 74-55. The Red Raider squad gave Coach Bob Knight his 900th career win as they dropped # 9/10 Texas A&M on January 16, 68-53. Tech lost a close game at OU, 63-61, on January 19 before topping Missouri, 92-84 at the United Spirit Arena on January 23. The Raiders lost at Texas, 73-47 and then returned to the United Spirit Arena for their 67-60 win over Oklahoma State on February 2.

Coach Pat Knight's collegiate coaching debut was spoiled by Baylor's 80-74 win in Waco on February 6. Nebraska topped the Red Raiders in Lincoln, 73-62 before the Red Raiders won at home against # 18/22 KSU, 84-75. The Red Raiders lost their first home game of the season on February 16 to Oklahoma, 66-64.
 

 

On February 20, Texas Tech won their first road game in conference play as they topped Colorado, 87-69. The Red Raiders dropped the ISU Cyclones at home (76-64) on February 23 and then lost at Texas A&M on February 28, 98-54.

Saturday's 83-80 win over #5/5 Texas gave Texas Tech their fourth win over a nationally ranked team this season. Tech topped # 14 Gonzaga in the Great Alaska Shootout, 73-63. On February 16, the Raiders upended # 9/10 Texas A&M in Lubbock, 68-53 and the Red Raiders stopped # 18/22 Kansas State at the United Spirit Arena on February 13, 84-75.

Martin Zeno leads the Red Raiders in scoring with 15.9 ppg. Alan Voskuil is averaging 13.5 ppg while John Roberson adds 12.1 ppg.

The Red Raiders are averaging 70.4 ppg for the season.

The Jayhawks were 15-0 in non-conference play and are 11-3 in Big 12 games. KU opened with five wins (at Nebraska, OU, at Missouri, ISU, and Nebraska) before losing at KSU. They then won at Colorado, Missouri, and Baylor before being stopped at Texas. KU beat Colorado and lost at OSU before winning at ISU. On March 1, the Jayhawks won their last game over KSU, 88-74.

Kansas has four players averaging double figures for the season in Darrell Arthur (13.6), Brandon Rush (12.6), Darnell Jackson (12.2), and Mario Chalmers (12.0).

The Jayhawks are averaging 81.6 ppg and are allowing 61.7 ppg.

The Red Raiders play their final conference home game on Saturday, March 8 against Baylor at 12:30 PM.

"Senior Day" recognition will take place before the start of Saturday's game.
