Dickey Discusses Huskers|

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The following are quotes from Texas Tech's pretournament press conference Wednesday at Kemper Arena. The Red Raiders face Nebraksa Thursday at 8:20 p.m. in the first round.
Head Coach James Dickey
On Nebraska: "I think Danny (Nee) has done an excellent coaching job. Venson Hamilton has been an outstanding player. He has great skills and has taken on a good leadership role with their team. Cookie Belcher is a great defensive player and I hope he gets some recognition for national defensive player of the year."
On Cliff Owens: "Cliff is extremely doubtful for tomorrow and probably won't play if we advance. He still has a lot of swelling in his leg. That will definitely change our defensive scheme. He really did a good job against Hamilton in the last game."
On Andy Ellis: "He had a bone scan last week and it came back negative. He has had a really good week of practice. I think the fact that there was not a problem with his rib will give him a lot of confidence tomorrow. He has been playing very well and has fought through some serious nagging injury. He's an outstanding player in this league."
On the injuries this season: "We were really blessed for the first eight years I was here. We never really had anybody get injured. This year we have had a rash of injuries. I admire the guys for trying to get back on the floor as soon as possible. Rayford has been hurt since December 15 and he will not be completely well this season. Stanley was seriously ill last summer, which caused him to miss the European Tour with the Big 12 all-star team, then he had the hernia problem. I really admire the ways our guys have fought back."
Junior Guard Rayford Young
"(Cliff) is our best rebounder and he will be missed. But, we feel we have some guys that can step up and do the job. We wil have to play for 40 minutes. We have to play with the same emotion and intensity the entire game. We also have to try to limit Hamilton because we know we can't stop him completely. But, we need to do the best we can. Nebraska has a good team and we will need to play our best to beat them."
Senior Guard Stan Bonewitz
"I think we will have to play better than we did the last time. Nebraska changed things up a little bit in the second half by running a 1-3-1 zone and stepping up their intensity. We didn't match them and if we do that on a neutral court we are going to get beat. We have to limit our turnovers and rebound big."
