Luke Adams Leads Team USA Past Russia, 93-64

Luke Adams led all scorers against Russia on Tuesday with 20 points.

SOFIA, Bulgaria - Texas Tech's Luke Adams led Team USA on a 25-0 fourth quarter run to lead the Americans to a 93-64 win over Russia in the final game of men's basketball pool play on Tuesday at Universiada Hall at the 22nd Deaflympics.

Adams, a junior guard from Big Spring, Texas, led all Team USA players with 34 minutes played, while also leading the team in scoring with 20 points to go along with five rebounds, five steals and three assists. Adams was 5 of 10 from beyond the arc and 6 of 13 from the field overall. He also connected on three of four shots from the line.

At the end of the third quarter, USA's lead over the Russians was just three, 58-55, but the up-tempo Americans forced the pace and rolled to the win.

It was Adams' fourth straight start in four pool play games for Team USA. The Americans went 4-0 and earned the No. 1 seed heading into the elimination round of the Deaflympics.

Team USA will face No. 8 Argentina on Thursday at 4 a.m. CT at Universiada Hall. That game will be followed by No. 4 Venezuela against No. 5 Greece. The other side of the bracket features No. 2 Ukraine versus No. 7 Slovenia and No. 3 Lithuania against No. 6 Russia.

The Americans will look to advance to the semifinals on Friday at 6 a.m. CT at Universiada Hall. The medal rounds are slated for Saturday.
