Team USA Falls To Venezuela At Deaflympics

SOFIA, Bulgaria - Texas Tech's Luke Adams recorded 11 points in a losing effort for Team USA, as the Americans fell to Venezuela, 88-85, in the men's basketball semifinals on Friday at Universiade Hall at the 22nd Deaflympics.

Team USA will face Ukraine on Saturday at 7 a.m. CT at Universiade Hall. The Ukrainians lost to Lithuania, 67-58.

The Americans had won 43 consecutive games during the elimination rounds of the Deaflympics, dating back to 1953 when Team USA lost in the semifinals in Brussels, Belgium.

Adams added four steals and four rebounds to his 11-point performance in 20 minutes of play. He is averaging 10.5 points, 4.0 steals and 3.3 rebounds per game in the Deaflympics.

The junior from Big Spring fouled out of the game with 6:40 to play. He was one of three Americans to foul out in the game, while Venezuela had just one player foul out in a game that featured 52 fouls.
