LUBBOCK, Texas – Radio personality Chris Level has been announced as the newest member of the of the Red Raider Basketball broadcast team for the 2012-13 season, by Texas Tech University, in conjunction with Red Raider Sports Properties, a property of Learfield Sports.

“We are excited to add Chris to our broadcast team,” said Rick Leach, General Manager of Red Raider Sports Properties. “He is a source our fans lean on for insight into Texas Tech Athletics and he will bring a wealth of knowledge to our fans following our men’s basketball team on the Texas Tech Sports Network.”

Level, co-host of Tech Talk on Double T 104.3 FM, will team with new play-by-play voice Brian Hanni this season.

“I cannot replace Andy Ellis, but I will darn sure try,” said Level. “I look forward to the challenge and I am excited for the opportunity. I feel like Texas Tech has the right staff in place to make some special things happen here with Coach (Billy) Gillispie. I'm also looking forward to working with Brian Hanni on the broadcasts. The fans will really enjoy listening to him.”

Level also serves as the sideline reporter for Red Raider Football on the Texas Tech Sports Network, where he will begin his third season. He hosts the weekly “Red Raider Football with Tommy Tuberville” radio show, which airs each Thursday during the season at Ruby Tequila’s (North location).

A 1991 graduate of Fort Worth Arlington Heights, Level played basketball for two seasons at Weatherford College, before graduating from Texas Tech with a bachelor’s degree in business management in 1996.

He began his broadcasting career as a weekly guest on Sportsline with Jack Dale. In 2002, Level became publisher for RedRaiderSports.com, an affiliate of Rivals.com and managing editor of Red Raider Sports magazine. He began his full-time broadcasting career at Ramar Communications in 2005. Level is a frequent contributor to radio shows around the state and nation as well as nationally syndicated Rivals Radio.
