LUBBOCK, Texas - Red Raider basketball fans can get an early glimpse of their 2009 - 2010 team on Friday, October 16, at the United Spirit Arena. Coach Pat Knight has invited the community, university faculty, staff, students, and fans to watch the Red Raiders in their opening practice of the season.

The doors at the United Spirit Arena will open at 4:30 PM. The USA staff will have the westside doors open to everyone wishing to attend Friday's practice. There will be open seating for all attendees. The USA balcony will be closed.

The 2009 - 2010 Red Raider squad will take the court at 5 PM.

The Raiders return nine players from last season and welcome five new players this season. Darko Cohadarevic, Trevor Cook, and Nick Okorie are returning seniors. Wally Dunn, John Roberson, D'walyn Roberts, and Mike Singletary return as juniors. They are joined by three new teammates from the junior college ranks - Theron Jenkins, Brad Reese, and David Tairu. Robert Lewandowski and Corbin Ray are now sophomores. The two incoming freshmen are Jaye Crockett and Mike Davis.

 

 

Texas Tech opens the season as the host of Basketball Travelers Duel in the Desert with three games in three days beginning on November 13 at 6 PM against South Dakota. Next, the Red Raiders take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on November 14 at 6PM and then conclude weekend play against Oregon State at 3 PM on November 15.
