Halloween Hoops Fest to Spotlight Tech Basketball Teams|

LUBBOCK, Texas - Halloween Hoops Fest, showcasing the 1998-99 Texas Tech men's and women's basketball teams, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum. A free event open to the general public, the festivities are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. and run until 12:00 p.m.
Due to the home football game against Missouri later that day (1:00 p.m.), there will be no on-site parking available. Fans are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the Park-and-Ride service from the commuter parking lot located at 18th and Indiana. The cost is $1.00 round-trip with buses boarding at 9:15 a.m. and running continuously until 1:30 p.m.
A 30-minute autograph session with the Raider basketball teams on the north end of the coliseum begins at 9:30 a.m. Free trick-or-treat candy and drinks will be available. Following the autograph session, contests such as a free throw contest, three-point contest, costume contest, musical chairs contest and a dizzy shot contest is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Prizes will be awarded.
"We are excited that our fans will have an opportunity to take part in our Saturday practice," says Red Raider head coach James Dickey. "Our players are working hard and are excited about the season. They are looking forward to seeing all our fans at the Coliseum."
Introductions of the men's and women's teams begins at 10:45 a.m. Scrimmages within the Red Raider team and the Lady Raider team is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. with prizes for the loudest fans and various other prizes awarded during the scrimmages.
"We're excited to provide the opportunity for our fans to get to know this version of the Lady Raiders," says head coach Marsha Sharp. "I look forward to see everyone come out to the Coliseum and enjoy the festivities."
Also available to Texas Tech fans is Raider Alley, which opens at 10:00 a.m. The football game between Texas Tech and Missouri starts at 1 p.m. at Jones Stadium.
