LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's basketball completes their five-game homestand when they face the Lamar Cardinals on Saturday at 7 PM.
Texas Tech and Lamar will be meeting for the fourth time since the series began on December 13, 1979. Each team has won when playing at home. On December 13, 1979, the Raiders won 83-68 and they won on January 1, 2008, 79-77. Last season, the Cardinals won in Beaumont on December 13, 85-79.
The Red Raiders opened the season with three wins in three days and claimed Basketball Travelers Duel in the Desert Championship. The Raiders defeated South Dakota in the season opener last Friday, 88-49. They knocked off Texas A&M-Corpus Christi the following day, 66-59. On Sunday, Texas Tech closed out Oregon State 64-60.
On Thursday night, Texas Tech spotted Northwestern a four-point lead with 6:40 remaining in the first half before staking out a 52-44 margin at the half. In the second half, the Red Raiders extended their lead to 24 points with less than eight minutes remaining in the game. When the horn sounded, Texas Tech had won their fourth game of the season, 94-75.
