Opponent: Grambling State Tigers LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Tech Red Raiders return to action on Tuesday when they host the Grambling State Tigers at 8 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena. The last time these two teams met was Dec. 18, 2011, in Lubbock. Jordan Tolbert had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead Texas Tech to an 87-59 win against Grambling State. Luke Adams also had a breakout game with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from behind the arc. The Red Raiders look to start the season 3-0 for the fourth time in the last five years. A win would mark the 26th 3-0 start in the 88-year history of the program. Red Raider head coach Chris Walker will look to become the seventh coach at Texas Tech to start his career in Lubbock 3-0, joining Dell Morgan (1931), Bob Bass (1969), Gerald Myers (1971), Bob Knight (2001), Pat Knight (2008) and Billy Gillispie (2011). Texas Tech is coming in off of an 91-63 win over Omaha last week at the United Spirit Arena. Junior Jaye Crockett recorded his fifth career double-double with 222 points and 10 rebounds, while Dejan Kravic added 20 points and six rebounds. Five Red Raiders are averaging double figures this seasons, led by Kravic, while is chipping in 14.5 points a game, followed by Crockett (13.5), Josh Gray (12.5), Jordan Tolbert (11.0) and Daylen Robinson (10.5). Grambling State will be making its fifth straight road appearance of the season after making trips to Cleveland State (L, 49-92), Ball State (L, 51-78), Miami of Ohio (L, 54-80) and Houston (L, 57-87). The Tigers, which are members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, are led by freshman sensation Terry Rose, who is averaging 16.8 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Rose is producing 33.4 percent of the Tigers’ offense.
