Texas Tech Looks To Rebound Tonight Against The Norse
Texas Tech will look to rebound from its first loss of the year as it hosts the Northern Kentucky Norse on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
This is the first-ever meeting between Texas Tech and Northern Kentucky, who will be making its first appearance in the state of Texas.
The Red Raiders are coming off of an 85-57 loss to No. 9 Arizona, while the Norse fell to No. 4 Ohio State, 70-43.
Texas Tech had started the year 4-0 and was in the midst of leading the nation in scoring before playing Arizona.
Chris Walker was named the interim head coach at Texas Tech on Oct. 4 and has held just over 35 practices since that time. A win on Tuesday would improve the Red Raiders to 5-1 in his first season, equalling the fourth best start by a first-year Texas Tech head coach.
Texas Tech is 14th nationally in scoring at 82.4 points per game.
The Red Raiders are paced by one of the nation’s top sixth men in Jaye Crockett, who comes off the bench each night to contribute a team best 15.2 points and 8.4 rebounds a night. Forward Dejan Kravic added 11.6 points and 5.4 rebounds, while freshman guard Josh Gray chips in 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds and sophomore forward Jordan Tolbert is good for 9.2 points and 6.0 rebounds a night.
The Norse, which are 0-5 and have not played a home game this season, are in their first year as a member of the NCAA Division I. Northern Kentucky went to the NCAA Division II Tournament in five of the last six years.
Northern Kentucky is led by Eshaunte Jones, who is averaging 14.4 points and 3.8 rebounds. Jalen Billups adds 8.8 points and 4.2 rebounds.
