The Texas Tech - Stanford game is the final installment of the Big 12 / Pac-10 Hardwood Series for 2007-2008. Earlier this year, the Big 12 and Pacific-10 Conferences announced an agreement to play a four-year men's basketball series of 12 annual games between the two leagues, starting with this season.

The series will continue in 2008, with games slated for December 4-7. The contests scheduled will be return games of the match-ups from 2007, but may not be scheduled for the same day of the week. The games in the series in 2009 will be played December 3-6, 2009, while match-ups in 2010 will be played December 2-5, 2010.

Texas Tech and Stanford are meeting for the second time. Last season, the Cardinal topped the Red Raiders in the Pete Newell Challenge at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, 70-59.

The Red Raiders (6-4) have split their last two non-conference games. Texas Tech defeated Louisiana Tech (86-31) at the United Spirit Arena on December 5. Martin Zeno (Sulphur, LA) led both teams in scoring with 16 points. John Roberson (Plano, TX) scored 13 points and Charlie Burgess (New York, NY) added 12 points to the Red Raider total.

On December 15, the Red Raiders lost at New Mexico, 80-63. Freshman Mike Singletary (Humble, TX) gained his fourth start of the season and responded with 25 points. Mike was 9-of-13 from the field, sank all six free throw attempts, and grabbed six rebounds. Trevor Cook (Coppell, TX) and John Roberson each added 12 points for Texas Tech.

Stanford (8-1) has won their last four games and returns to the court on December 19 against Santa Clara for their first non-conference game since a December 2 win at Colorado, 67-43. On December 16, the Cardinal played an exhibition game against The College of Idaho.

Texas Tech basketball returns to the United Spirit Arena for three home games during the holiday season. On December 29, the Red Raiders host Northwestern State at 1 PM. The Lamar Cardinals are in town on New Year's Day for the 6 PM tip-off. The UTEP Miners will be final non-conference opponent for the Red Raiders in the 2007-2008 on January 5 at 1 PM.
