LUBBOCK, TX - The Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the Lobos of the University of New Mexico at the United Spirit Arena on Wednesday, December 29 at 7:00 p.m.

Texas Tech has a 43-41 margin in the series that began on February 24, 1931. The last meeting between the two teams was on December 29, 2009. The Lobos won in Albuquerque, 90-75.

The Lobos opened their season with two wins at home against Detroit and Arizona State. They lost at California before returning home for wins over Northwood and San Diego. The Lobos won their next two games on the road at Southern Illinois and at New Mexico State. A week later, New Mexico downed New Mexico State at home and then added two additional wins at home over Longwood and The Citadel.

The Lobos are now 10-2 on the season with their December 22 win over Colorado (89-76), and their loss to Northern Iowa on December 23, 66-60.

After twelve games, New Mexico has averaged 76.3 points per game while allowing their opponents 63.3 points per game. The Lobos have three players averaging double figures for the season. Dairese Gary tops his UNM squad with 13.1 points per game. Kendall Williams is next with 12.4 points per contest, and Phillip McDonald follows with 12.0 points per outing.

After their 73-56 win over UT Arlington on December 22, Texas Tech (6-6) is averaging 78.0 points per contest and allowing opponents 77.3 points per game. The Raiders have four players averaging double figures after twelve non-conference games. Seniors Brad Reese and Mike Singletary are each averaging 13.3 points per game. John Roberson follows with 12.4 points per game. Robert Lewandowski adds 11.4 points per game.

Mark Finkner will call the courtside action against the UNM Lobos along with analyst Andy Ellis on the Texas Tech Sports Network flagship radio station Double T 104.3.

 

 

After the game against New Mexico, Texas Tech faces Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2:00 p.m. on January 2. The Red Raiders host Delaware State on January 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the last nonconference game of the season.
