Red Raiders Face Rattlers on New Year's Eve At United Spirit Arena

Texas Tech (6-4) will close out the non-conference schedule, as it hosts Florida A&M (4-8) on Monday at noon at the United Spirit Arena.

After starting the year 4-0 in the month of November, the Red Raiders have gone 2-4 in December with one game remaining against the Rattlers of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

This is just the third meeting between Texas Tech and a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. The Red Raiders defeated Delaware State, 78-60, on Jan. 4, 2011 at United Spirit Arena. and dispatched North Carolina A&T on Friday, 85-74.

This will also end a school record streak of 11 consecutive home games to open the season. The Red Raiders will play their first road game on Saturday to open Big 12 play in Fort Worth against TCU at 5 p.m.

Last year, Texas Tech surpassed 60 points 15 times in 31 games. This season, the Red Raiders have eclipsed 60 points nine times in 10 games. Texas Tech is currently averaging 77.1 points per game, which ranks fourth in the Big 12 and No. 40 nationally.

Leading the way for Texas Tech is junior forward Jaye Crockett, who is averaging 16.4 points and pulling down 9.4 rebounds per game. He ranks third in the league in scoring and first in rebounding. Other key contributors are Dejan Kravic (11.0 points), Josh Gray (10.4) and Jordan Tolbert (8.6 points).

Florida A&M enters Monday's game with a deceiving record. The Rattlers have a high octane offense that is ranked No. 1 in the MEAC and 85th nationally in scoring at 72.1 points per game.

Jamie Adams leads four Rattler players in double figures, as the junior averages 15.2 points and 3.4 assists per game. He is joined by Muhammad Abdul-Aleem (11.0 points/5.1 rebounds), Jamari Bradshaw (10.8 points/4.3 rebounds) and Reggie Lewis (10.5 points/2.1 assists).
