Junior Jaye Crockett earned his first career Big 12 Player of the Week honor.

IRVING, Texas - Junior guard Jaye Crockett (Texas Tech) and forward Amath M’Baye (Oklahoma) have earned the final Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week awards of 2012, it was announced. It is the first career honor for Crockett and second accolade this season for M’Baye.

Crockett recorded his fifth double-double double of the season in Texas Tech’s 85-74 win against North Carolina A&T, finishing with 20 points and 14 rebounds. The 14 boards tied a career high and it marked his fourth 20-point scoring effort of the season. He was 7-of-10 (.700) from the floor and 6-of-7 (.857) from the free throw line in 29 minutes off the bench. Crockett is the nation’s leading Sixth Man among the six major conferences, leading the bench players in those leagues in both scoring and rebounding.

M’Baye recorded his second-highest scoring total of the season with 16 points in the Sooners’ lone game of the week, a 74-63 victory over Ohio. The junior forward also grabbed a team-best six rebounds to go along with a season-high three steals in just 22 minutes of action. He was 6-of-8 (.750) from the field and 3-of-4 (.750) from the free throw line in the contest. M’Baye is averaging 9.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in 2012-13 and has led or tied for the team lead in rebounding in seven of 11 outings.
