Coach Reviews The Battle.....

Texas Tech Head Coach Spike Dykes:

(On the game) "We stunk up the kicking game. We missed four field goals, we missed a punt and snapped a field goal over a guy's head. When you do that you're not going to win ballgames."

"I thought (our) defense played well. We had a little spell before the half, but overall I felt we played good, especially in the second half. We showed some courage and poise."

(On Kansas State) "K-State made the plays when they had to. We didn't make the plays when we needed to. They are very well-coached, and they stayed poised when we came back. "K-State beat us -- that's the bottom line."

(On Texas Tech's final offensive play when receiver Donnie Hart was stripped by Lamar Chapman and Mario Smith) "That was a pretty close call at the end. They shouldn't have showed the replay up there (on the Jumbotron) like that with a close call like that.

"I felt we caught the ball, but the officiating was good, fair and consistant."(On the result) "If the game would have started in the fourth quarter, we probably would have won."

(On playing without senior guard Casey Jones) "Casey Jones is the best offensive lineman we've got, you're going to miss a guy like that."

(On the remainder of Tech's schedule) "It's going to be business every Saturday. There won't be any easy ballgames. We've got a lot of football left."
