Coaches Review The Battle....
Texas Tech Head Coach Spike Dykes:
(On the game) "We practiced extremely well. It was a nice win. We did nothing speatacular, just good solid football. There was a drastic improvement in the kicking game. We developed a little depth. It was a nice win, but we have our work cut out for us."
(On mistakes) "We're still sloppy. We came out injury free and it was certainly important to come back after a loss."
(On Hanspard) "Bryon is a funny guy. I don't know if its his quickness or strength, but he breaks a lot of tackles and makes a good run. He ran through a bunch of folks, stumbled and still made the touchdown. He's stronger than a year ago and had a great spring. Now he's a better blocker. I'm just glad he's on our team."
(On the kicking game) "Tony is a great kicker but Jaret has been waiting his turn and had a good week."
(On the passing game) "I'm always concerned when the completion average is not good. We need to get lots better in our passing game."
(On Tony Darden) "He's doing well, had a big play making a big interception."
Oklahoma State Head Coach Bob Simmons:
(On the game) "We just didn't play well at all. Texas Tech is a good football team. We did not gel offensively or defensively. We could not sustain a drive and that's one thing when you can't play as many plays against a talented tailback like that and a good quarterback."
(More on the game) "We just have to go back to the drawing board and try to move forward and come out and play next week."
(On Hanspard) "We made him look that good. I think he's a good football player. For us to allow him to get that many yards, we've got to evaluate what we're doing."
(On David Thompson) "What we tried to do was run the football and I thought we were having some success throwing. I thought David (Thompson) played hard."
(On playing the game in Dallas next year) "I really don't know right now. I'm just going to reflect on it over the next couple of days and talk with some people. I lthought the turnout was tremendous on both sides."
