Tech place kicker Jaret Greaser missed his first field goal of the season, a 54-yarder with seven seconds left that would have tied the game. Greaser is now 5-6 this year.

I-back Byron Hanspard's 37 carries was a career high.

Quarterback Zebbie Lethridge struggled for the third consecutive game, completing only seven passes and throwing two interceptions.

Bulldog running back Robert Edwards, expected to be a big factor in the game, finished with 43 yards on seven carries. He did not play in the second half because of a foot injury.

Tech starts the season with a 1-2 record for the sixth consecutive season. Tech is now 0-3 in the series against the Bulldogs. The Raiders lost the 1965 Sun Bowl 7-0 and lost a 52-37 shootout in 1993 in Athens.
